Eliezer Lidovsky, Poland


Eliezer Lidovsky was born in Baranowitz in east Poland (today Belarus) in 1908. At the beginning of World War II the area was annexed by the Soviet Union, and Eliezer was imprisoned for his Zionist activities. With the German invasion in the summer of 1941, he exploit use of the confusion and fled back to his city, where he witnessed the murder and abuse of the Jewish population by the Germans. He fled to the forests and joined a group of partisans. After liberation he was a major activist in the Brichah organization. (5:55)
