Aharon Carmi, Poland


Aharon Carmi was born in the town of Opoczno, Poland. He was a member of the Gordonia youth movement. After the German occupation a ghetto was set up in the town. In January 1943 Carmi’s family was deported from the ghetto with the remaining town Jews. On the train, Carmi’s father convinced Aharon and his brother to jump off and save themselves. They jumped, But Aharon’s brother was caught later. Aharon managed to reach the Warsaw ghetto, where he joined the Fighting Jewish Organization. In his testimony he writes extensively on fighting in the area of Toebbens-Schultz industries.
